BIO
Jimmy Keller is a sculpture artist from a small town outside of Buffalo, NY. He began professionally chainsaw carving at the age of fifteen but soon expanded into other art forms. His current sculpture work addresses individuality and mindfulness, creating an inspiring outlet for the viewer to experience. He ties together nature and abstract, creating pieces that intend to ground the viewer and connect themselves metaphysically with the Earth. This natural component stems from his lifelong personal experiences and connections with the environment. He intends to positively influence spaces with artwork, creating environments that can inspire viewers beyond day to day experiences.
Various woods and metals have been implemented most recently in his artwork. He is conscious of where the materials are sourced, what tools are used and how. It is especially important that the wood is sustainably sourced creating a balance between consuming and producing.
As an art column writer, Jimmy Keller not only creates works of art but also words of art. The column provides readers with an in-depth look at current exhibitions and contemporary artists in local galleries. Most recently featured is Marion Art Gallery in Fredonia NY. He also writes on the business and philosophical aspect of art sharing research and advice. The column "Art-icle" is intended to share the appreciation of art from multiple angles with fellow artists, collectors, and anyone interested in the intricate world of art.
Education
Keller received an Associates in Fine Arts and currently studies Visual Arts and New Media at the State University of New York at Fredonia with a focus in sculpture. He will receive a Bachelors in Fine Arts in 2024 and then pursue a Masters in Fine Arts.
